Job Description

This Volunteer Placement is Located in: Kingston, Jamaica

Start Date: June 2024

Placement Length: 12 Months

Language Requirements: English Level 5-Fluent

The Volunteer’s Role

Your primary objective as a volunteer is to significantly improve the National Conversation Trust Funds (NCTF)'s ability to monitor the performance and impact of their programs in the region. You aim to develop cutting-edge solutions and frameworks for gathering gender-specific data and evaluating information.

As a dedicated volunteer, you will play a crucial role in actively supporting the development of results-based, gender-responsive monitoring and evaluation procedures. This includes designing impactful assessment tools, defining relevant indicators, and implementing reliable methodologies for monitoring and evaluation. Moreover, you will also have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the capacity building of our staff through providing training sessions on the development of Monitoring and Evaluation tools and techniques.

The Caribbean Organizations for Resilient Environments (CORE) project serves to build the capacity of National Conservation Trust Funds (NCTFs) operating in eight countries (Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname) to implement local, nature-based solutions for climate change adaptation and mitigation with a gender-responsive lens.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Assess the capacity of staff to effectively implement Monitoring and Evaluation tools and systems for measuring program impact.
  • Aid in creating training resources and conducting training sessions for staff on results-based gender-responsive planning, monitoring and evaluation practices and procedures
  • Assist in the development of systems and tools for monitoring and evaluation that gather disaggregated data and facilitate program impact assessments.
  • Contribute to the development of indicators, which are results-based and gender-responsive, for monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of program implementation.
  • Support the establishment of a Monitoring and Evaluation database and generate Monitoring and Evaluation reports.
  • Provide support in enhancing staff capabilities in grants management and monitoring.

Essential Requirements:

  • University degree in international development, human rights, gender studies, social work, law, public policy, or a related field.

Essential Background:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation - it would be advantageous if you have previous experience in a role connected to promoting gender equality, diversity and/or advancing women's development.
  • Experience in providing training and facilitating sessions.
  • Experience with government agencies and working with senior management is favoured.
